Angels of the Knights - Fallon

Summary from Goodreads:
When Fallon Angell died at the age of sixteen, her life changed forever.

The hallowed world of Emperica is everything she had ever hoped for as a mortal—immeasurable beauty, unconditional love and light. But, with affection for humankind still burning within her, she joins the Knight Caste to train as an angel warrior. As a Knight, she will give up her wings and return to the place that killed her to use her unique powers to search out and destroy the evil Kjin that roam the earth. As a Knight, she will stop at nothing to protect the mortals in her care.

The elders warn her that the path she chose will be a solitary one. That she will not have the same bond with humans as she once did. But, as far as she knows, the elders had never met Kade Royce.

When her duties place her in the path of this handsome former cop, emotions buried long ago rise to the surface and she is powerless to ignore the depth of her feelings for this young man. She knows instinctively that she has found what most people search their entire lives for.

Ignoring the risks, she invites him into her world of danger, but soon their lives collide with explosive consequence. As a result, Fallon realizes with heartbreaking despair that she can no longer hide from the painful truth. In order for Kade to live, she must destroy him.

About the Author
Thank you for visiting my Goodread's profile. I am Valerie Zambito, and I live in upstate New York with my husband and three sons. After having been involved in a busy sales career for fifteen years, a great love of world building, character creation, and all things magic led to the publication of my first adult epic fantasy series, ISLAND SHIFTERS, in October of 2011. Since then, I have added two additional books to this series and wrote the first book in a new teen paranormal series called ANGELS OF THE KNIGHTS.

My reading preference is fantasy as well and I devour in copious amounts. In my opinion, there’s nothing like it! Great fantasy grants us entry into a world beyond our own that is filled with adventure, mystery and danger. How exciting to enjoy a front row seat to human struggles of epic proportions. Struggles that tug at our heartstrings and elicit real emotion.

I gravitate to fantasy with heroic elements. I like strong, confident men who never back down from a fight against evil. The kind who will not hesitate to throw himself between a woman and a fire-breathing dragon. I like strong women, too. The kind who will appreciate the offer, but is more inclined to push the man out of the way and take care of the dragon herself. ;)

Waiting on Wednesday #6: Shudder by Samantha Durante

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine. It basically   showcases what books, bloggers are looking forward to. This week I'm waiting on:

Shudder (Stitch Trilogy #2)Shudder (Stitch #2) by Samantha Durante
Publisher: Self-Published
Expected Release Date: June 15th, 2013

-- Book 2 in the Stitch Trilogy --

It's only been three days, and already everything is different.

Paragon is behind her, but somehow Alessa's life may actually have gotten worse. In a wrenching twist of fate, she traded the safety and companionship of her sister for that of her true love, losing a vital partner she'd counted on for the ordeal ahead. Her comfortable university life is but a distant memory, as she faces the prospect of surviving a bleak winter on the meager remains of a ravaged world. And if she'd thought she'd tasted fear upon seeing a ghost, she was wrong; now she's discovering new depths of terror while being hunted by a deadly virus and a terrifying pack of superhuman creatures thirsting for blood.

And then there are the visions.

The memory-altering "stitch" unlocked something in Alessa's mind, and now she can't shake the constant flood of alien feelings ransacking her emotions. Haunting memories of an old flame are driving a deep and painful rift into her once-secure relationship. And a series of staggering revelations about the treacherous Engineers - and the bone-chilling deceit shrouding her world's sorry history - will soon leave Alessa reeling...

The second installment in the electrifying Stitch Trilogy, Shudder follows Samantha Durante's shocking and innovative debut with a heart-pounding, paranormal-dusted dystopian adventure sure to keep the pages turning.

Review:

Life is too short.

Life is to short for me to force myself to read this book. I mean, I REALLY hate not finishing books. When I don't finish them it bothers me for a very long time. So it just seems easier to get the book  over with and move on. But I have my limits! This is the first book in the series so I don't feel like I have an obligation to finish it like I do with other books.

"What?!" You say: "Chloe, you didn't finish it. Then how can you say you didn't like it"

Look I TRIED. I really did and I made it to about the halfway point but once I started to do chores just so I had an excuse not to read the book. That's when I knew I had to stop. I every time I see this series somewhere its going to bother me. And I hate that.

  Positives:

Theres not many for me. The only thing that I liked about the book was the setting. I think its really cool when authors try to give books unique settings, and the story being set in Paris was pretty cool.

  Negatives:

Ugh! You know, I've relied on Goodreads and the people who review on Goodreads to help me find my next book, so that I can avoid situations like this. An when I see the the book has an average of 4 STARS and everyone and their mom says that they LOVE IT. Then I think "Oh! Well this must be a good book" but no. Just no. I mean even now I'm looking through Die for Me's, and I can't help but wonder if there's something wrong with ME. Why am I the only one who doesn't like this.

Some bloggers have this book listed as their favorite series, on the others liked the first one but said that the second and third are worse. WHAT?! It gets WORSE?! HOW?!

OK. so I probably should say what I didn't like about. Well lets starts with Kate. I can't like a book and not like the main character. And I did not like Kate. She was just so....ugh! There was nothing to her character, she was just so boring. Same with Vincent, the only thing I liked about was his name. I mean I know he was supposed to be all mysterious and whatever. But I was just not buying it.

The secondary characters were okay. I actually kinda liked them. They were a heka lot more interesting than Kate and Vincent, I tell you that. And with  different writing than they could have been a lot more interesting.

I CAN NOT STAND INSTA-LOVE! And that's basically the romance between Kate and Vincent is. No getting to know each other. Nope, none of that. It went to them meeting then not being able to live without one another in like, 60 seconds. Annoying.

I think my eyes almost fell out of my head from rolling them so much.

I definitely commend Amy Plum and on trying to be original with who whole undead revenants thing. But zombies ARE. NOT. SEXY. They just aren't. Do you know how many times I've heard "Zombies are the new vampires" and do you know what I say to that "NO!".

Final Thoughts:

Look, I'd like to say that I totally respect Amy Plum as a writer and did not mean to offend anyone at all with the rant. But I just did not like this book. And as far as recommending the book, I don't. However, I really don't think that matters because everyone seems to like it but me. So if this is you type of book. I say go ahead and read it.

What did you think about the review? Tell me in the comments section!

Blogging News: Blog Design Change (Again)

Hey Guys! I don't know If you've noticed (or care) but I changed the design of my blog!

This is actually the third time I've changed it....and I've only been blogging for two months. I know. I'm REALLY indecisive. Seriouly. Its a problem. The first one was really boring and I had it when I was just getting the hang of blogging, so there wasn't much too it.

The SECOND one I liked but it wasn't really me. So I changed it again. AND I LOVE IT!

happy hugs
                                                                  Gotta love Friends.

Yep! I was this happy when I finished it. It's so me. Dark. But not too dark. With just the right mix of pink, purple and black (with a little white and gray mixed in). Actually, I was inspired by the theme of my own bedroom.

Anyway, this probably doesn't matter to you. But I just wanted you guys to be aware how much I change mind-If or when I change the design of my blog again. But at the moment I am RIDICULOUSLY happy with the way it is now. :)

Tell what YOU guys think about it in the comments section!

I gather up all my clothes and stick them in the stackable washer in the closet just off the bedroom. The breeze caresses my naked limbs and gives me the chills, but I enjoy it. The goose bumps travel up my arms and spread out to my whole body. I shiver for a second and then head to the kitchen.

And stop dead in the living room.

Ronin fucking Flynn is sleeping on the couch.

What is he doing here? My eyes track to the front door and I suppose it's my fault, I left it open. There's nothing but a screen door between this apartment and the terrace. My gaze wanders back to the sleeping man. He's lying on his stomach, his one arm tucked underneath him, the other falling over the edge of the cushion, and he's shirtless.

And then I realize I'm naked.

"Shit!"

He stirs and I make a break for the bedroom. It's one thing to let him see me naked half hidden in darkness and quite another to be fully illuminated by the bright morning sunshine. I wrangle the sheet around my body and then head back to the living room, wistfully looking at the washer that contains every single article of clothing I own.

"Ronin!" I say loudly.

Nothing except a half-muffled snore from him. Lord, this man has the most perfectly chiseled and muscular back I've ever seen. Both hands pull up and go under his face, like he's blocking out the sunlight, and this gives me the perfect opportunity to study his flexing biceps. The muscles are thick and hard-looking near his shoulders. They curve down, dip into a little valley, and then climb once again.

I lean down and smell him.

"Why are you sniffing me?" he asks groggily.

"Uh—" Because you smell delicious, the inner Rook says. But luckily the outer Rook says, "I'm checking to see if you're drunk. Why are you sleeping on my couch?"

He peeks up, opening one eye in my direction, squints, and then croaks out some words. "I love your outfit." He grins, winks, and then drops his head back down into his arms.

"Are you leaving?" I ask, frustrated and confused at the same time. "I mean, why are you here?"

"I told you I'd come back with dinner. But when I got here, the lights were on and you were in bed. I only sat down for a second to think up a rational excuse to wake you up, but I guess I fell asleep." He raises his head again, grins sheepishly, and then rolls over on his back, tucks his hands behind his neck, and flashes his perfect body at me as he closes his eyes, probably confident that I'll be checking him out.

I do check him out. It's quite hard not to notice that he's got the perfect six-pack abs and that absolutely adorable fuzzy happy trail you see on a shirtless designer jeans model. Hmmmm… maybe he is that model? "You have no shirt on."

Yes, after all that gawking, I finally manage the obvious.

He opens the one eye to look at me again. "Neither do you."

Review:

Identity Theft by Anna Davies is a Mystery/Thriller about Haley Westin, your typical overachieving high school Senior. While trying to get in to her dream college; she finds that her secret twin may be out to get her. I have mixed feelings about this book.

On one hand it was disappointing as a mystery /thriller, but as just a YA Fiction I found the book to be somewhat interesting.

Hayley was a confusing character for me. At some points I really related with her, her hopes of finding her place in the world outside of high school and wanting to belong was something that I know a lot of teenagers feel. But there was other times when she was just unnecessarily bitchy (excuse the language!).

I was annoyed with her mom for being so absent and unaware of what was going on with her daughter. I mean she said she kept the secret about Haley's twin from her to protect her daughter, but honestly it seemed like she lied just to protect herself.

Adam and Matt the love interests of the book were just a little too dull for me. Although I will say, that there were times when I did like Adam, and to me, his and Haley' relationship just made more sense that hers and Matt's. Even though that there was a point where she could not stand Adam the all of a sudden they were together. As for the others characters they were just your typical stereotypes of teenagers; shallow, empty-headed,and vain, and not even worth mentioning.

Anna Davies has a nice writing style. Good enough that it made lackluster "scary scenes" a little better. I wish that she took a little less time building  up  to the "scary" parts and to more time actually making them scary. And the mystery of it was sadly predictable, I knew what was going to happen almost immediately and it usually takes me a minute to figure these things out.

My Final Thoughts:

It was REALLY hard for me to come up with a final rating for this book, but I went with 3 stars (and I still feel like I'm generous) because I do think and it's worth reading and do recommend. But if you're looking for looking for the type of book that will keep you guessing or hiding under your bed sheets in terror than please, don't bother.

Waiting on Wednesday #4: Daylighters by Rachel Caine

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine. It basically   showcases what books, bloggers are looking forward to. This week I'm waiting on:

Daylighters (The Morganville Vampires, #15)Daylighters (Morganville Vampires #4) by Rachel Caine
Publisher: New American Library
Expected Release Date: November 5th, 2013
Available for Pre-Order: B&N/Amazon
Add on Goodreads: Goodreads

While Morganville, Texas, is often a troubled town, Claire Danvers and her friends are looking forward to coming home. But the Morganville they return to isn’t the one they know; it’s become a different place—a deadly one… Something drastic has happened in Morganville while Claire and her friends were away. The town looks cleaner and happier than they’ve ever seen it before, but when their incoming group is arrested and separated—vampires front humans—they realize that the changes definitely aren’t for the better.

It seems that an organization called the Daylight Foundation has offered the population of Morganville something they’ve never had: hope of a vampire-free future. And while it sounds like salvation—even for the vampires themselves—the truth is far more sinister and deadly.

Now, Claire, Shane and Eve need to find a way to break their friends out of Daylighter custody, before the vampires of Morganville meet their untimely end…

Why I'm Waiting:

I love this series SO. MUCH! This has been my favorite books for like two years. I almost don't want it to come out because it's the last one :(

Happy Reading!
