[Book Blast] Spring Training by Parker Kincade: Excerpt + Giveaway

He’s got his eye on the ball, but his sights are set on her.

For baseball superstar Garrett Donovan, his contract with the New York Empire baseball team meant he’d finally have the means to secure a future for his family. He should focus on that…not on the sassy, beautiful Jessa Montgomery — or what she looks like naked. Getting involved with the daughter of the Empire’s owner would be career suicide. Jessa is a distraction he can’t afford.

Her father had warned her never to get involved with his athletes, so his request that she keep an eye on his new star player came straight out of left field. The last thing Jessa needs is another spoiled, egotistical ball player to deal with. But Garrett is none of those things. His no-nonsense attitude and smooth Southern charm make her blood burn and her knees weak. Giving into temptation, she is consumed by the pleasure she finds in Garrett’s arms.

Jessa wants to protect his career. Garrett won’t let anything get in the way of their passion.

A passion that could cost him everything.

Strawberries.
You’re such a dumbass.
What the hell was he thinking? If there was one thing every baseball player knew, it was that you didn’t fuck with the owner’s daughter. Ever.
And there he was … talking goddamned condoms and telling her she’d made him hungry.
Jesus Christ.
Garrett scrubbed his hand down his face. He’d heard about the beautiful Jessa Montgomery. From what he’d seen just now, she’d earned every ounce of praise. She was a total knockout. Her hair was a gorgeous shade of blonde and copper, long enough to drape over her breasts. Breasts that weren’t overly large, but perfect to fill his hands.
And her eyes. Garrett bit back a moan. Her eyes were mesmerizing. Not quite blue, not quite green.
But when she started rattling off stats with that voice as smooth as honey, sweet mercy, he’d gone rock hard. Which was damned uncomfortable when his junk was crammed into a protective cup.
Not even his mother could rattle off stats like that and know what they meant. The fact that Jessa understood the game he loved? Fucking. Sexy.
Garrett reached down to adjust himself, hoping to get some relief from the pinch currently nagging his balls.
Two weeks. He’d better chill the fuck out if he was going to survive two weeks with Jessa. Garrett respected the hell out of TJ Montgomery. It was rare for TJ to take a personal interest to the extent he had with him. He still hadn’t figured that one out, but Garrett liked the man. And he needed this job. He had his mom and Leah to worry about. And now little Georgia Grace.
His dad had died years ago, and now that his brother-in-law was gone, Garrett was all they had. The family farm in Mississippi had been his parents’ dream, and Garrett worked hard to make sure it would continue to provide for them. But there was only so much he could do by himself.
Baseball was his ticket to securing a future for his family. He couldn’t afford to screw that up. He had no business thinking about strawberries and wondering if Jessa’s nipples would taste the same as she smelled.
Shit.
Garrett made his way onto the field. He didn’t know what she was getting all bent out of shape about anyway. Even being a few hours later than he’d scheduled, he was still two days early for team practice. If anything, he should be offended about the crack she’d made about him wearing protection. As if he was some kind of man whore.
Ah, if only he’d had that kind of time to waste.
He scanned the growing crowd. He smiled and waved to the fans calling his name. He took in the excitement like the ground soaked up the sun, giving himself a moment to revel in the fact that he was here. All the years of hard work and sacrifice had finally paid off.
“Hey, Donovan!” Garrett turned to see the batting coach signaling him over. “You planning to stand around all day, or you gonna show these folks whatcha got?”
He caught sight of Jessa, already sitting in the first row with her bare feet propped up on the rail. He couldn’t resist stretching his neck to check out her long, lean legs. He cursed as she eased out of the short-sleeved button down, leaving her in a tight top with tiny straps. He wondered how easily those straps would snap if he wrapped his hands around them and tugged.
As if she sensed him watching, her gaze locked on him. Her smile was almost apologetic. Then she laughed and waved her clipboard — her demand for him to get busy.
“Donovan!”

Garrett grabbed his bat and sighed. It was going to be a very long two weeks.

Blogging News: Blog Title Change

Hey Guys! So this is a quick post because I just wanted to get the chance to explain why I changed blog name and URL of my blog.

So when I first started this blog I had NO Idea what I was doing. It was actually one of my more impulsive decisions and I don't consider myself to be impulsive :) But the name has been bothering me for awhile I don't really know why I even chose it. I'm just not that creative when it comes to names!

This new name  has a lot of meaning to me because at first I was going to name it Chloe's Bookish Adventures but went with Coco as a tribute to my mom. She's gave me the nickname when I was little, but was also the one who inspired and pushed my love for reading. The Bookish Adventures part comes from blogging. I've only been doing this for two short months but have already encountered so many new and wonderful experiences.

So I hope you guys aren't TOO annoyed with me but this is a change I had to make and one that I am VERY happy with :)

Oh! now that I change my URL I have to start over again with Bloglovin followers so I would really appreciate if you guys could follow me, thanks.

Happy Reading,
Chloe

[Blog Tour] Hidden by M. Lathan: Review + Giveaway

(Click on the banner to see the rest of the blog tour schedule)

Hey Guys! This week I have been lucky enough to get to participate in the blog tour for Hidden by M. Lathan (my first blog tour :0) and today is my stop!

Hidden (Hidden Series #1) by M. Lathan
Release Date: November 12th, 2012
Publisher: Self-Published
Format: ebook
Pages: 241
Source: Xpresso Book Tours
Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars
Amazon/ B&N/ Goodreads

Goodreads Synopsis:
Sixteen-year-old Leah Grant has given up on being normal. She’d settle for stopping the voices in her head, intrusive visions of the future, and better odds of making it to her seventeenth birthday.

That’s the thing about pretending to be human in a world where magic used to exist – at any moment, her cover could be blown and she’ll be burned to death like the rest of the witches.

Everything changes when she loses control of her powers and flees the orphanage she grew up in. She desperately wants to be invisible but finds her face plastered on every news channel as humans panic over the possible resurgence of her kind. And now the hunters won’t give up until they find her.

Making friends for the first time in her life and falling in love with one of them drives her to discover why she is unlike any being she’s ever met – human or otherwise. The dangerous powers inside of her that would repel Nathan, her new, handsome reason for living, are priceless to some. The locked up forever kind of priceless. And to others, they are too dangerous to allow her to live.

Let’s hope she can stay hidden.

                                                             Review:
The Story

You know when you happen upon a book and it's so good that your like"Why haven't I heard of book before now?! Why due to this crazy and horrible universe have I not read this before now? And why am I not in the street shoving my Kindle in peoples faces, threatening to set them on fire if they don't read it!". Oh, probably because I'd be committed if I did. Anyway, the rest is still true, this book was amazing!!

A book about a young girl living in an orphanage after her parents were tragically taken away in a horrible war. Sounds simple enough right? Wrong! The book is soooo much more that. In fact, the plot has so much going on you would think it would be messy, but its not. I enjoyed getting to learn about the nature of Leah's/Christine's  (I won't tell you why I'm also calling her Christine because that would be a spoiler) powers and who her parents were right along with her.

The Writing

The writing in this book was wonderful. Especially in relation to Leah/Christine. I felt like I was really able to see inside her head. Sometimes I felt like I was her. And the way M. Lathan wrote the characters insecurities and depression, but also her moments of anger is so realistic that there were moments when I was actually a little scared of the main character.

The Characters

I really liked Leah/Christine. There were so many moments in the book, especially in the beginning when she was being bullied, that I just wanted to hug her. She's just the type of character you gotta love :) It just broke my heart when she was so hard on herself  and how she felt like she wasn't worthy. So I really enjoyed when she started to make friends  and to understand herself and her powers.

Oh, Nathan. Yes, I liked him, even though his love for for Leah/Christine boarded on obsession to me and I thought he overreacted when she revealed something to him but she forgave him, so I do too ;)

Paul and Emma's parts were small but it did not take long for me to fall in love with them either because of their friendship with Leah/Christine. Also Emma has a French accent, so cute!!!

I was on the fence about Sophia for awhile because I wasn't sure if her intentions were good or not. But grew to love her as well. I think it was because her kind and loving nature reminded me a lot of my mom :)

The Good

Ugh! Everything! The characters most of all. Fiction or not there just the type of people you wish you knew.

The crazy twist plot line (sorry, I'm being so general with my review, I just don't want to spoil anything!) was just awesome.

And of course you KNOW I loved the magic and I hope to see A LOT more in the next book.
The Bad

Nothing! I guess I can say that the pace was a little slow and because I like strong characters I didn't really like how low Leah's/Christine's self-esteem could be but both had it's purposes.  So again nothing! Ugh just ignore me.

My Final Thoughts

Since this review is basically just me GUSHING you're probably wondering why I gave it a 4.5 review and it's only because of the slow beginning but thinking back it did not really bother me/. So thank you Xpresso Blog Tours and thank YOU M. Lathan for allowing me read this book because I really loved it! I love any book with witchy happenings so this book definitely does not disappoint. I CANNOT wait to read Lost and see what happens next with the characters.

Top Ten Tuesday #7: Beach Reads (YOU Define!)

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week has a different theme, this weeks Top Ten Tuesday is Beach Reads (YOUR DEFINITION).
MY Definition of a Beach Read: To me a beach read doesn't necessarily have to be about summer, the beach or vacation houses. To me it just has to be light and fun. Something that makes me laugh and smile, not angry, sad and disappointed!
(All tittles link to Goodreads!)

1. The Bloodlines Series by Richelle Mead - This isn't the first time I've talked about these books on my TTT but what can I say, they make me sill happy :)

2. A Random Chik Lit. Book by Random Author - Every summer I have to go to the library and pick out a very summery book, one was actually called Summer Boys. It's like the book equivalent of a romantic comedy.

3. The Clique Series by Lisi Harrison - Love these books reminds me of middle school, oh how easy things were.....

4. Secrets of my Hollywood Life Series by Jen Calonita - Another Chick Lit. series I love but the last three have been on my TBR FOREVER.

5. The Magic in Manhattan by Sarah Mlynowski - Sadly the series has ended now but every once in a while I go back to read it, its just the type of book that makes you smile.

Sorry guys only top five this week. I wish I had more time but I've got so much to do for my finals this week. On the bright side my high school graduation is this Saturday. EEEEE!! I CAN'T WAIT!!!!

What's YOUR Top Ten this week?
